Language Acquisition in 5 Stages

This is an informational animation about the experience of acquiring a second language through the story of a Chinese ESL student's journey.
Process
The sketch on the left shows 5 scenes representing the 5 stages in the process of acquiring a second language. I captured the passage of time and the progress of learning ESL through the 5 stages by showing the main character's school desk and homework as the main visual.
The animation concludes by listing the different factors that can affect the time needed to learn a second language. To explain such, I designed a montage of 4 scenes, each comparing two extremes of one factor, illustrated in the sketch on the right
